How can the U.S. move toward a more sustainable energy economy?
As the U.S. energy mix is shifting away from coal, there is wide consensus that natural gas is a bridge fuel towards renewables, given its ability to meet climate objectives and energy needs. In addition, policies such as the Clean Power Plan would be instrumental in boosting the role of renewables in accelerating the clean energy transition. Despite shifts away from coal-based energy in the U.S., many developing countries continue to depend on fossil fuels to power their economic growth.
