What is Apply Pay?

Apple Pay offers an easy, secure, and private way to pay for purchases using Touch ID on iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 3.

To pay with Apple Pay at a retailer that has a contactless reader, hold your iPhone 6 within an inch of the contactless reader with your finger held on Touch ID without pressing it. A subtle vibration and beep lets you know the purchase was successful.

You can also use Apple Pay on your iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 to make purchases within participating mobile apps. Look for the Apple Pay logo while completing your in-app purchase to use this feature.

Does BBVA Compass support Apple Pay?

Yes. BBVA Compass launched Apply Pay on February 3, 2015.

I have an iPhone 5s. Can I use Apple Pay?

In order to use Apple Pay, you need an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus and be running iOS 8.1 or above.

What cards are eligible for Apply Pay?

You may enroll your BBVA Compass Visa® consumer credit cards, BBVA Compass NBA American Express® Card, BBVA Compass ClearSpend Prepaid Visa® Card, or your BBVA Compass Visa® consumer or business check cards into Apple Pay.*

Can I enroll any other products in Apple Pay?

Currently, no other products are eligible for Apply Pay, but as new products are available, more information will be provided.

Where can I go to find out how to enroll in Apple Pay?

You can find more information on how to set up and use Apple Pay at http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201239 

If your BBVA Compass Visa card, BBVA Compass NBA American Express® Card, or BBVA Compass ClearSpend Prepaid Visa® Card is already on-file with iTunes and is eligible for the service, you will be offered an option to use it as your default account for Apple Pay. You can also choose to add a different card using the iSight camera or by entering your card information manually.

When I use Apply Pay, is my card number stored on my phone?

With Apple Pay, instead of using your actual credit and debit card numbers when you add your card, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted, and securely stored in the Secure Element, a dedicated chip in the devices. When you make a purchase, the Device Account Number, along with a transaction-specific dynamic security code, is used to process your payment. So your actual credit or debit card numbers are never shared by Apple with merchants or transmitted with payment.

What is a Device Account Number?

Your card information will be replaced with a Device Account Number that can be securely stored on Apple devices and used to make purchases. Your credit and debit card numbers are NOT stored on the device, or on Apple servers. This helps to reduce the potential for fraud.

I loaded my card but the image is different than the physical card I have in my wallet? Is this right?

Yes. There may be slight variations in the image you see from what your physical card looks like. Keep in mind, the image you see is just a representation of your card and will not impact your purchase ability.

Do my transactions post any differently?

No, any purchases you make will process the same way as they currently do. You can make purchases and returns without any issues in the transaction posting to your account properly.

If I have questions about Apple Pay and my card, who do I call?

What if my phone is lost or stolen?

If your iPhone or iPad is lost or stolen, you can go to icloud.com/find or use the Find My iPhone app to suspend or permanently remove the ability to pay from that device with Apple Pay. Your cards will be suspended or removed from Apple Pay even if your device is offline and not connected to a cellular or Wi-Fi network. You can also call BBVA Compass at 1-844-533-8041 and we will be happy to assist in removing your Device Account Numbers from Apple Pay on your lost or stolen device.

If my phone is lost and stolen, do I have to change my physical Account Number?

No, since the physical account number is not stored on the device, you do not have to change your account number. However, you will need to call BBVA Compass at 1-844-533-8041 to disable the Device Account Number on your lost or stolen device.
