Load from a BBVA Compass debit card or set up direct deposit. Cards can also be loaded with cash at any Visa ReadyLink retailer or BBVA Compass branch.
Use your ClearSpend Prepaid Visa® prepaid debit card for all your day-to-day spending. After 30 days, the ClearSpend app will automatically suggest a budget.
With ClearSpend, two people can manage one budget while maintaining a snapshot of who spent what.
Since both cards are tied to the same budget, each cardholder has the ability to load funds to ClearSpend that can be used for purchases by either cardholder. Secondary cardholders will have to verify their e-mail addresses and activate their card before using. Each cardholder will receive spending alerts each time a purchase is made by either cardholder.
You can add a secondary card holder during application or any time at clearspend.bbvacompass.com/login. Login into your account and select "Add a Second Card" from the main menu to get started. The second card will be sent to the address you use during the application.
How it works
Link your BBVA Compass debit card in the App or fund your card in person with cash at any BBVA Compass branch or Visa ReadyLink location.
Login to an existing bank account or using services such as popmoney®, PayPal® or Venmo® and transfer money to your ClearSpend account. You'll need your ClearSpend account number and routing number which are available in the App under "My Account". Funds will be available in 2-3 days.

Yes, you can add 1 secondary cardholder or authorized user. Additional cardholders must be at least 13 years of age.
A credit inquiry is not required when you order the BBVA Compass ClearSpend card.

Yes, funds can be added to a BBVA Compass ClearSpend card with a BBVA Compass debit card or with cash deposited in a BBVA Compass branch or at a Visa ReadyLink location. You can use your BBVA Compass ClearSpend card to get cash from any BBVA Compass ATM plus one non-BBVA Compass ATM per month, or as part of a cash-back transaction without any fees.
Checks are not available with BBVA Compass ClearSpend card.

Yes, the BBVA Compass ClearSpend card is protected from fraud through Visa’s Zero Liability coverage.* You will have no liability for unauthorized use of the card. Disputes are handled by Visa. Customers may call 877-659-9230 to dispute charges.
Since a secondary cardholder shares the same funds as the primary cardholder, the primary card holder can add funds to another person’s card by loading cash at a BBVA Compass branch, via Visa ReadyLink, via Direct Deposit, or transfer from a BBVA Compass debit card.

All BBVA Compass ClearSpend Card accounts subject to approval. ClearSpend Accounts available to U.S. residents who are over 18 years old (or 19 in certain states) and for use virtually anywhere Visa Cards are accepted, subject to verification.
BBVA Compass does not charge a fee for reloads at a BBVA Compass branch, through a BBVA Compass debit card or through ACH/Direct deposit. Visa ReadyLink merchants may charge a fee for this service. Please refer to Schedule of Fees in your Terms and Conditions for full information
BBVA Compass will not charge a fee for the first withdrawal from an ATM each month, regardless of whether that withdrawal occurs at a domestic or foreign ATM. However, foreign ATM charges may apply from other banks in which BBVA Compass is not responsible for those fees charged. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions for full information.
