The CompassPoints Rewards Program is a promotional rewards program ("Program") offered by Compass Bank (“BBVA Compass”, the “Bank”, “we”, “us” or “our”). In this Program, “you” or “your” means everyone that may be a consumer account holder (joint or otherwise) on one of the following products: BBVA Compass ClearPoints Credit Card, CompassPoints Credit Card, Visa Signature Credit Card, Visa Personal Line of Credit (PLC), Dynamo ClearPoints Credit Card, Wealth Management Visa Platinum and Signature Credit Cards, and Charge Card (“Card”). This is a separate and independent agreement from the BBVA Compass Credit Card & Security Agreement; however, it is subject to the Governing Law provision and Dispute Resolution section of the BBVA Compass Credit Card & Security Agreement, which are incorporated herein by reference and also apply to any vendor or service provider we choose to assist in the operation of the Program. We reserve the right to disqualify any individual who violates these terms and conditions or violates any Program rules, terms, or conditions posted on www.bbvacompass.com or otherwise disclosed to you by BBVA Compass (collectively “Terms and Conditions”). By using your Card, you agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions of the Program. These Terms and Conditions may change from time to time.
Eligible Cards are automatically enrolled in the Program at account opening to begin earning points.
You earn points based on the value of the Qualifying Purchases that post to your account, less any purchase credits, returns, unauthorized charges, fraudulent charges, or other adjustments that are not payments. Points are not your property and have no cash or monetary value.
Except as provided below or pursuant to the terms of any specific offer, a “Qualifying Purchase” is any purchase made with your Card that is processed or submitted through the Visa U.S.A. Inc. payment system. Unless otherwise provided in additional terms for special promotions, the following are not Qualifying Purchases for purposes of the Program:
We reserve the right to determine, in our sole discretion, whether a particular transaction is a Qualifying Purchase. Transactions that are not Qualifying Purchases do not earn any points. Unless otherwise stated in a promotional offer, a Qualifying Purchase is deemed to occur on the date of the transaction. Purchase credits, returns, or other adjustments that reduce the point balance are deemed to occur on the date the credit or adjustment is posted to your Card account. In some cases, you may have a negative point balance.
With respect to Build Your Own Rewards Bonus Points (described below), an otherwise Qualifying Purchase may not be eligible for Build Your Own Rewards Bonus Points if the Qualifying Purchase is submitted by you or the merchant through third-party payment accounts (e.g. PayPal), mobile or wireless card readers, online or mobile digital wallets, or similar technology (collectively, “Technology”). If the Technology is not set up to process such a Qualifying Purchase in the appropriate rewards purchase category, that Qualifying Purchase may not earn Build Your Own Rewards Bonus Points.
Base Points accrue at a rate of one (1) point for each $1.00 (U.S.) of net Qualifying Purchases made with your eligible Card. There is no limit on the number of total Base Points you may earn in the Program, although limits may apply to any points you can earn in addition to Base Points.
Using the Build Your Own Rewards (BYOR) feature, you may select Bonus Point purchase categories each quarter to earn Bonus Points for net Qualifying Purchases made at merchants included in those purchase categories during that quarter. The list of eligible Bonus Point purchase categories is predetermined by us, and may change from time to time. Each quarter, you may select one purchase category from a list to earn one bonus point per $1.00 (in addition to the Base Point, for a total of 2 points per $1.00) of net Qualifying Purchases at merchants in that category. You may also select an additional purchase category (from a separate list) to earn two bonus points per $1.00 (in addition to the Base Point, for a total of 3 points per $1.00) of net Qualifying Purchases at merchants in that category.
Purchase categories may be selected by accessing the rewards website directly at www.bbvacompasspointsrewards.com, or through Online Banking at www.bbvacompass.com. If you do not have access to the rewards website you may call 877-392-7371 (1-87REWARDS1) to make your quarterly selections. If no category selection is made for a quarter, all transactions will default to one (1) Base Point per $1.00 spent during that quarter.
Cardholders must select categories each quarter to earn Bonus Points.
Quarters are defined as calendar quarters, which start January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1. You can make a selection as early as the first day of the quarter prior to the quarter when the selections take effect. For instance, you may begin making your selections for the second quarter (which runs April 1 through June 30) on January 1st of the same year. You may change your selections as many times as you would like prior to the start of the quarter, but once the quarter begins, no changes are permitted for that quarter. If you do not make selections before a quarter begins, all Qualifying Purchases made during that quarter will default to one (1) point per $1.You may make selections at any point during the quarter, however, transactions will only start earning the additional bonus points as of the selection date. Bonus Points will not be applied retroactively to the beginning of the quarter if selections are made after the beginning of the quarter.
Points will be awarded based on the merchant category codes (MCCs) identified by the Bank to participate in each BYOR purchase category. Even though a merchant or some of the items that it sells may appear to fit within a purchase category, the merchant may not process transactions under that MCC. When that happens, the purchase will not qualify for BYOR Bonus Points in that category. For instance, a large retailer may report one of its stores in the grocery MCC (5411), but another one of its stores in the wholesale clubs MCC (5300), even if that store sells food products. The grocery store MCC (5411) is included in the grocery purchase category, while wholesale clubs (5300) is not included. Categories that are selected to participate in the BYOR program, along with their associated value, are chosen at the discretion of the Bank and may change from time to time. There are currently no caps on the amount of BYOR Bonus Points you can earn.
In addition to Base Points and BYOR Bonus Points, eligible Cards may earn points as detailed in promotional offers we may present to you (for example, on specified types of transactions and/or spending amounts). We will disclose the terms and limitations, if any, of earning additional points in the promotional offers. Unless otherwise noted in the promotional offer, the rest of these Terms and Conditions will still apply.
Points are awarded per qualifying transaction and rounded to the nearest whole number.
Earned points will begin to expire thirty-six (36) months from the date the points were earned. If you receive gifted points, the gifted points will expire twelve (12) months from the date the points were gifted.
As long as your account is open, in good standing and you are not in violation of the Terms and Conditions, you can redeem earned points for credit to your Card account.
If you voluntarily close your Card account, all points earned on the closed account will be forfeited. BBVA Compass recommends customers redeem any accrued rewards, in accordance with the Terms and Conditions, prior to closing your Card account.
Points may be redeemed at any time through the Rewards Website, which can be accessed directly at www.bbvacompasspointsrewards.com, or through Online Banking at www.bbvacompass.com. You must register at the Rewards Website before you can redeem points through the Rewards Website. You may also redeem points by calling the Rewards Center at 877-392-7371 (1-87REWARDS1) or via transaction alerts received through the BBVA Wallet.
Points may only be redeemed for an account credit to an eligible Card account. Please allow up to 14 business days for the credit to post to your Card account. You must have a minimum of 100 points available in order to redeem via BBVA Wallet. In order to redeem for an Account Credit via the Rewards Website or by calling the Redemption Center, you must have a minimum of 2500 points OR the exact amount of points equivalent to a specific transaction amount (refer to section on Purchase Credits). Redemption values may change at any time.
You are responsible for paying your minimum payment due each month. You cannot use redeemed rewards points (account credits) to satisfy your minimum payment due. Points are redeemed on a first-in, first-out basis, including gifted points.
The Purchase Credit feature allows you to request a redemption of points against a specific Qualifying Purchase for an account credit (up to the amount of the transaction). This can be facilitated through the Rewards Website or by calling the Rewards Redemption Center. Purchase Credits can be redeemed against Qualifying Purchases made within the last 90 days. Please allow up to 14 business days from the date the redemption request was completed for the Purchase Credit to post to your Card account.
The BBVA Wallet is a mobile card management application we provide to BBVA Compass card account holders, and downloading instructions may be found at www.bbvacompass.com. Redemptions of points through a BBVA Wallet transaction alert can only be conducted within 24 hours of receiving a transaction alert. Alerts for card transactions and reward redemption are subject to service availability to your mobile device and cannot be guaranteed by BBVA Compass. Alerts are also subject to merchant billing practices and may not be received until your card is charged for the purchase price. An inventory of points must be available in the account to redeem. If you redeem points through a BBVA Wallet transaction alert, your available credit may remain unchanged until the redeemed account credit is actually posted to your account, which could take up to 14 business days from the date the point redemption was requested.
You may gift points to other accounts that participate in the CompassPoints Rewards Program.. Gifting points is free, and can be initiated through your Rewards Website or by calling 877-392-7371 (1-87REWARDS1). You must register at the Rewards Website before you can gift points through the Rewards Website. In order to initiate a gift, you must know the full account number for the card associated with the rewards account you would like to gift points to. Points may be gifted in any amount (up to your total points balance) and can only be gifted to accounts that participate in the CompassPoints Rewards Program and that are open and in good standing. Gifted points expire twelve (12) months from the date the points are gifted. For clarification, you may only gift unredeemed points; to receive an account credit, the recipient must redeem the points.
You agree that BBVA Compass may email you periodically about promotional offers, point balances, and general program updates. Providing periodic communications related to rewards points is done at the sole discretion of BBVA Compass.
We may provide any and all future communications related to the Program and/or the Terms and Conditions (including any changes to them) through the Program website, which can be accessed by logging into Online Banking at www.bbvacompass.com, or directly at www.bbvacompasspointsrewards.com.
If you have a problem or question regarding whether you earned points from a particular transaction, whether your points were properly redeemed, or the status of your redemption order, or if you have any other question regarding the Program, you can visit the rewards website directly at www.bbvacompasspointsrewards.com, or by logging in through Online Banking at www.bbvacompass.com, calling 877-392-7371 (1-87REWARDS1), or mailing to P.O. Box 680234, Marietta, GA 30068-0004.
If you believe we have made an error or mistake with respect to your Program account, you must notify us within 60 days of the posting date or the date of the alleged error or mistake. We may require you to provide written confirmation of the alleged error or mistake. If we do not receive the requested written confirmation at the address and within the time frame requested by us, we may, in our sole discretion, determine not to correct the alleged error or mistake. All questions or disputes regarding the Program, including eligibility, earning points, or redemption of points, will be resolved by us in our sole discretion.
You may cancel your participation in the Program at any time by closing your Card account. If you close your Card account, all points earned on the closed account will be forfeited. We recommend that you redeem any accrued rewards, in accordance with the Terms and Conditions, prior to closing your Card account.
In the event of any abusive, gaming or fraudulent activity related to your participation in the Program or to your Card account, as determined by us in our sole discretion, we reserve the right to make corresponding adjustments to or invalidate points you accrued in the Program, to disqualify you from participating in the Program through use of the Card account, and/or to close your Card account at any time. Abusive or gaming activity includes, but is not limited to, obtaining or using an account to maximize rewards earned in a manner that is not consistent with typical consumer activity and/or multiple credit card account applications/opening, as determined by us in our sole discretion.
Any and all taxes on points in connection with the Program are your responsibility. Please consult with a tax advisor concerning any income or other tax consequences that may be related to points.
The actual period of time it will take to receive points for any single eligible transaction may vary, and we, our agents, and our vendors and service providers shall not be liable for any fees or interest incurred by you or any other loss you may sustain as a result of your reliance on point redemptions.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we and our vendors and service providers hereby specifically disclaim any representations or warranties, express or implied, regarding the Program, points, and any products or services, including any WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE or implied warranties arising from course of dealing or course of performance. BBVA Compass is not responsible for the performance of any merchant, service provider, or common carrier.
We may exercise our rights under the Terms and Conditions at any time; a delay by us in exercising any right under the Terms and Conditions does not mean that we have waived that right.
This Program is void where prohibited by federal, state, or local law.
We reserve the right to terminate the Program or to change the Program rules, benefits, or points levels, in whole or in part, at any time with or without notice, even though changes may affect your ability to use accumulated points. Accumulated points do not entitle you to any vested rights with respect to points, credits, rewards, or benefits. Notifications to changes in the Program may be limited to the Program website. Please be sure to check www.bbvacompasspointsrewards.com frequently for potential updates and changes.
