What is a BBVA Compass Visa Debit Card?

The BBVA Compass Visa Debit  Card is the most convenient way to access the funds from your checking account. Whether it's making an everyday purchase, or accessing cash at an ATM, it's easy and convenient. All transaction detail is easily tracked using Online Banking or your monthly statements.

How does it differ from a Credit Card?

Unlike Credit Card products where you can accumulate a balance and pay interest, a Debit Card simply deducts purchases automatically from your checking account balance.

How do I get a Debit Card?

Visit the nearest BBVA Compass Banking Center today for a BBVA Compass Visa Debit Card. Replacement cards can be ordered by calling 1-800-266-7277. Remember, you must have a BBVA Compass checking account prior to ordering a card.

What should I do if I can't remember my PIN? (Personal Identification Number)

Call 1-800-239-5175 to order a new PIN. It could take 7-10 business days for you to receive your PIN in the mail.

What if I want to change my PIN?

Call 1-800-266-7277 and follow the prompts to change your Pin or visit a local branch for assistance.

How do I activate my Debit Card?

Call 1-866-676-1895 to activate your card through our automated system, use your card at any BBVA Compass ATM with your PIN, or make a purchase at any retailer location using your PIN.

How do I make purchases using my Debit Card?

Just swipe your card at any merchant accepting Visa® and enter your PIN or sign for your purchase. It's as easy as that. You may also use your card for online or phone-based purchases by simply following the instructions provided.

What is the difference between 'debit' or 'credit'?

At check out merchants may ask you to select 'debit' or 'credit'. When choosing 'debit', you will have to enter your PIN to complete the transaction. When choosing 'credit', you will sign the receipt. With either choice, your purchase is deducted from your checking account.

What if my card is lost or stolen or if I notice unauthorized debit card transactions?

You should notify us immediately if your card has been lost or stolen to minimize risk. You should also contact us about any unauthorized debit card transaction because you may not be liable for the transaction. You can contact us at 1-800-239-5175.

When I receive my new card with Chip Technology, does it replace my old card?

Yes. Once you activate your new card, your old card will be de-activated.

Why does my new chip card look different from my old card?

While your card number is still the same, we have provided you with a new distinctive design that reflects the new technology your card provides. Additionally, we want your new card design and secure technology to reflect our brand promise—banking on a brighter future.

Why is my name and card number not embossed on my new cards?

Your name and card number are now featured on the back of the card. This allows the card design to really stand out and shine.
