BBVA Compass Visa® Check Card
It's convenient
Your Check Card combines the best features of checks and credit cards. It's so convenient, it may end up being the only way you pay for purchases. Here's just a few things that make a Check Card so darn convenient:
- You just swipe, sign and go. And many places you don't even have to sign for small-dollar purchases. How easy is that?
- The amount of your purchase is deducted from your checking account – just like a check.
- It's accepted everywhere Visa debit cards are – at the grocery store, gas station, restaurants, and even on the Internet. Places that might not take checks or cash!
- Unlike a credit card, you don't accumulate balances, so you don't pay interest.
- Unlike cash or other forms of payment, you can see details about every Check Card transaction as soon as it posts to your account by logging on to CompassPC® online banking. Plus, you can also see most pending authorizations. This will help you remember what you've used your card for, so you can keep an accurate balance and avoid overdrafts.
- Use your Check Card to pay recurring bills - things like gym memberships, wireless phone, insurance, cable, Internet. Find out what bills you can pay with your Check Card.
- If you ever need "proof of payment" the transaction record is as good as a cancelled check.
Tips on Pending Check Card Transactions
- Gas Stations: When you pre-pay for gas at the pump, the station will frequently pre-authorize an average amount for a tank of gas (like $50). Once you finish filling your tank, and complete the sale, the transaction will post for the final amount of the sale.
- Restaurants: When your waiter swipes your card, their system may pre-authorize enough to cover your bill plus an average tip. Once you've completed your sales slip, the actual tip will be entered and the transaction will post for the final amount.
Check card subject to approval.
