In 2006, Compass Bank partnered with UTSA's Institute for Economic Development, the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Telemundo San Antonio to recognize that accomplishments and contributions of  local outstanding Latina business owners.

In 2007, five outstanding San Antonio Latina business owners received the second round of scholarships. These women have faced many obstacles and have demonstrated such strength of character and laser-sharp focus that it is easy to see why they and their businesses have achieved such success. This year's winners are:

Glenda Anzualda – RRGP Services Inc.
D.D. Cobb – Chic Mama Maternity
Veronica Ann Edwards – InGenesis
Janie Martinez Gonzalez – Web Head Group
Jeanne C. Riojas Martin – Career Quest

The scholarships were presented on August 7, 2007 at the Pearl Stable in front of a large crowd that included friends, family and community leaders. Keynote Mary Alice Cisneros gave an inspiring speech to the expectant crowd and saluted the women for their contributions to the San Antonio economy.
