Estate/Trust Accounts

An estate account is an account managed by an estate's administrator or executor or other designated individual on behalf of the estate. Estate accounts should be opened under the tax identification number of the estate for tax reporting purposes. Estate accounts require legal documentation in addition to account applications before they can be established. Due to the additional requirements and the special nature of estate accounts, we strongly recommend working with one of our Personal Investment Officers when establishing an estate account. To speak with a Personal Investment Officer, please call 1-800-COMPASS.

To receive an application and guidelines on opening an estate account, Click on the Customer Service button, then select Request Forms. Check the box marked Estate Account Application, and any other forms you wish to receive. You should receive the application within 10 days. To prevent processing delays, please answer all questions on the application. Your account should be activated within one business day of receipt of your completed application, and is subject to the terms of our customer agreement.

A trust account is an account managed by a trustee or other designated individual(s) or entity on behalf of the beneficial owner(s). A trust may be established by living persons or for the estate of a deceased person if the trust is established pursuant to the deceased will. All trust accounts require that you include a copy of the entire trust agreement (and any amendments thereto) with the application, therefore, you may only open a trust account by completing a paper application.

To receive an application to open a trust account, Click on the Customer Service button, then select Request Forms. Check the box marked Trust Account Application, and any other forms you wish to receive. You should receive the application within 10 days.
