How will I know when my account has been opened?

Your account can be activated within one business day of receipt of your completed online application. Once the review of your application is completed, you will receive an electronic message or a phone call informing you of the status of your account, including your CompassWeb Brokerage ID and initial password. If your application was sent via U.S. mail, we will inform you that we have received it by electronic mail or phone call. Then, within one business day, we will send another electronic message or call you again informing you of the status of your account.

What is my account number?
Your account number will begin with a three digit prefix followed by six digits (for example, 5K4-000001). This account number will appear at the top of all pages offering information specific to that account. If you would like to change your primary account (the account that automatically appears when you first enter CompassWeb Brokerage), you may do so from the Account Profile, then click on Change Primary Account. A list of all your accounts will appear. Choose the account number that you would like to access automatically each time you enter CompassWeb Brokerage.

If you have more than one account and would like to view an account other than your primary account, click on Select an Account found on the Portfolio page. A list of the accounts associated with your CompassWeb Brokerage ID will appear. Select the account you would like to view and it will be displayed. You will stay in this account for the remainder of your session -- until you change it again using the Select an Account button.

How do I access my account for the first time?
To access your account, click on "LOGIN". You will be asked to enter your CompassWeb Brokerage ID and your password (The first time you access CompassWeb Brokerage, you will be prompted to change your password). Once your account has been opened and you have logged in, you have access to everything we offer online! For more information, call 1-800-COMPASS Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. through 7 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. through 1 p.m., Central Time or email an online message to brokerage@compassweb.com.

How do I change my password?
When you access your portfolio for the first time, you will be prompted to change your password immediately. You can change your password again at any time. After you have entered your current password, click on Account Profile then select Change Password and follow the instructions on the page.

When selecting a new password, try not to duplicate letters or numbers. You should also not use your first name, last name, birthday, or consecutive digits like 123456. Never reveal your password to another person.

When can I place my first trade?
Before placing your first trade, we strongly recommend placing practice trades in the Trading Demo, which you can enter by clicking on the Trading Demo button located at the top of the home page and every page before you login. If you have logged into your portfolio, select Logout and then select the Trading Demo button to view a practice trade. Because our trading demo mirrors the real thing, you can simulate an actual trade without spending a dime.

If you have applied via online application or U.S. mail, you should be eligible to place your first trade within one business day of receipt of your application. As soon as you receive your account number via email or phone call, you can access your account online.
